PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Space Objects are 1:1 scale copies of 1960's cold war era satellites, from Canada (alouette), the Soviet Union (Cosmos), and the United States(IDCSP). Together, they are a 'found' sculptural lexicon (which came into existence contemporaneously with minimalism), which have been formally simplified and reconstituted using basic prototyping technologies and materials. The series attempts to recast the geopolitical order of the space race through aesthetic considerations, demonstrating that the space agencies of the East and West had diverging formal conclusions for satellites designed for roughly the same purpose.
